Shaped like a bunch of grapes, the Republic of Moldova is located in the South-East of Europe, sandwiched between Ukraine and Romania, with the Danube delta in the South and in the Black Sea basin, where the vine originates.
Generations of winemakers crafted our wine with dedication, through centuries. The country’s wineries gained worldwide fame. The past and the present intertwined in our legend, inspiring the future of our victories.
The relief of Moldova is fragmented, predominantly with low hills, plateaus and sunny plains crossed by numerous rivers flowing into the two Prut and Dniester rivers which flow into the Black Sea.
Climate is continental, sometimes with maritime influences.
Located between the 46-47 ° latitude, like other well-known wine regions in Europe, vineyards have a terroir suitable for the production of quality wine, red in the South and white predominantly in the center of the country.
The Republic of Moldova has 112 000 hectares of vineyards, planted with over 50 technical varietals. The wine-growing area is divided into 4 historical wine regions:
